IMF loan

Mr. Mahindananda Aluthgamage said that Sri Lanka will receive the first loan installment from the International Monetary Fund, and as soon as the money is received, the prices of goods which have increased due to the decrease in the value of the dollar in Sri Lanka will come down rapidly.

Mr. Mahindananda Aluthgamage said this in a public meeting held on (11) in Nawalapitiya Municipal Council to confirm the victory of the candidates contesting from the United National Party in this year’s local government election from Nawalapitiya Municipal Council.

Mr. Mahindananda Aluthgamage, who commented further, said that candidates from the UNP and Podujana Peramuna have been submitted to Nawalapitiya City Council.

Mr. Mahindananda Aluthgamage said that those aspirants will take control of Nawalapitiya Municipal Council on March (10).

He said that since the electricity bill has not been increased for many years, the electricity bill has been increased to get the fuel required for electricity production, and the government has taken steps to provide enough fuel and gas to the consumers all over the island.

He said that a government cannot be changed through local government elections, and that the current government will remain in power for another 2 ½ years, and that the current government will fulfill its promises to the people during that time.

Even now, the prices of essential food items have come down and the cost of living of the country’s people will come down by April this year.
