The Indian Premier League Women’s Twenty20 cricket tournament started yesterday (13th) in Mumbai, India, and it is unique that no team has offered to buy any of the Sri Lankan players.

In the first phase of this women’s auction, Sri Lankan players Chamari Athapattu, Anushka Sanjeevani and Inoka Ranaweera were offered with a starting bid of 30 lakhs of Indian rupees, and no team has taken steps to buy them.

Meanwhile, India’s Smithri Mandhana was the highest bidder in this women’s auction. The most talked about incident was when the Royal Challengers Bangalore team offered 3.4 crore Indian rupees or about 415,000 US dollars as the highest bid for her purchase, which was offered for an initial bid of 50 lakh Indian rupees.
