The United Postal Trade Union Front states that the postal workers will hold a black protest movement for three days starting today (09) based on two demands.
Mr. Chintaka Khandara, the co-convener of the union, said that this protest movement is being held to demand the removal of unfair taxes levied on professionals and to remove the bank interest that has been raised in relation to the loans taken by public servants from banks.
Accordingly, he said that today the postal workers will report to work dressed in black and conduct a protest campaign in front of every post office, and in addition, they will start signing a public petition from 12.00 pm to 11.00 pm during the working hours of every post office. was
Mr. Chintaka Bandara stated that the postal workers and the people who visit the post offices will sign this public petition, and the petition signed in this way will be handed over to the President’s Secretariat on the 14th, requesting that it be handed over to President Ranil Wickramasinghe, and that the postal workers will report to work dressed in black on the same day.
