The Supreme Court today rejected the case filed by the Human Rights Commission asking for an order to suspend the power cut during the A-level examination period.
The Human Rights Commission had also requested in the petition to take legal action against the chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board because he has insulted the court by continuing to cut electricity despite the recommendation not to cut electricity during the examination period.
The three-judge bench that considered the petition stated that the Chairman of the Electricity Board is one person and he is not capable of taking the responsibility of disconnecting electricity.
Therefore, this case was also ordered to be dismissed without fees.
