Veteran musician Sanath Nandasiri passes away
Veteran singer and musician Sangeet Nipun Professor Sanath Nandasiri passed away today (28). He was 81 when he died. Mr. Sanath Nandasiri, who has done exemplary service to the Sri Lankan music industry, was also working as the current chancellor of the University of Fine and Performing Arts.
Mr. Sanath Nandasiri, who is a singer, musician, music director, as well as a lyricist, has sung more than 140 songs, such as Sari Nai Sari Sari, Ayyy Epita Gammanen, Dangkara Oya Desa, etc. He was especially known for singing film background songs.
Sanath Nandasiri has worked in the music industry for more than six decades and has received several awards for his compositions.

Herath Mudiansela’s son, Sanath Nandasiri, was born on February 15, 1942. Born in Colombo’s Gothatuwa neighborhood. H.M. William Perera, a building contractor and businessman, and Dona Amaline Katugampola, a housewife, were his parents. the third child in that family. Nimal Chandrasiri is Sanath Nandasiri’s elder sister, elder brother, younger sister, and younger brother.
Education
Completed his primary education from St. Matthew’s College. From Gothatuwa Maha Vidyalaya, he appeared for General Level and then he joined Mahabodhi Maha Vidyalaya for Advanced Level. Then I finally joined Stafford College to study English. During his school days, he excelled as an athlete as well as a sportsman. He was a good sprinter and won trophies in the 100m.
