A medium-sized, powerful solar flare reportedly caused a brief radio blackout across the Pacific Ocean on Tuesday (February 7), according to SpaceWeather.com. at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado Deputy Director and Solar Physicist Scott McIntosh explained that this event, which happens once every solar cycle with the Sun’s 55 degree latitude, is not unusual.

But he has admitted that he has never seen this current vortex.
